1. Business intelligence is the knowledge one uses to make proper business decisions. Specifically, business intelligence incorporates information about a company’s customers, competitors, partners, and their competitive environment. It is more than just information, in a sense that it helps a company sell more of their product. 2. Online analytical processing (OLAP) can be described as using information to assist you in the decision making process. It differs from Online transaction processing (OLTP) because OLTP only involves the gathering of information, whereas, OLAP uses the information gathered and then manipulates it, so that better decisions can be made. 3. The most popular database model is the relational database model, which is composed of three main components, the structural component, the manipulative component, and a set of rules (maintains the integrity of the database). 4.
