Fact Sheet for Communicating Science Program UC Student responsibilities: 1) Arrange a teaching schedule with the classroom teacher – taking into consideration vacation and testing schedules. 2) Teach six inquiry-based science lessons – approximately one hour long each between now and the end of UC Spring semester (May 4). 3) Arrive prepared to teach and with enough time to set up materials before the scheduled session. 4) Clean-up and organize teaching materials – coordinating with teacher where materials should be stored between teaching sessions. Classroom teacher responsibilities: 1) Arrange a teaching schedule with a pair of UC students- help select appropriate GEMS activities. 2) Be present in the classroom during the science lessons to help support UC students – specifically dealing with student behavior issues as necessary. 3) Communicate directly with UC students ahead of time about any changes to the teaching schedule.
