Molly McMahon McMahon 1 Dr. N. Graves EN102/ Carr Reading and Questions 1-3 2-23-09 “On Covers of Magazines, a Full Racial Palette Is Still Rare” By David Carr 1. This article is arguing that covers of many magazines still do not feature diverse models, actors, etc. from a broad variety of ethnicities and cultures. This I find quite surprising because in America today, so many different cultures live among one another. In some cities, street and store signs are written in different languages to accommodate all types of people from all types of backgrounds. As Diane Weathers said, “Considering what the country we live in looks like today, I think it’s appalling.” (Carr, par. 8) Also, the fact that this was published in the business section as opposed to lifestyle or front page is rather shocking considering that this is a phenomenon occurring not only in the magazine industry but in our everyday lives. As much as Americans want to think that racism and prejudice does not exist any longer, it does. The only change is
