Job Title How Was It Anthropological? What Did You Take Away From This Experience That Informs Your Career Development? Waitress Serving food to people, you learn the different taste preferences of people of different cultures. I learned patience here as well as how to “shmooze.” Different types of people talk about different things. For example, I wouldn’t talk about Bamboozle with an older couple, but I would with a group in their 20’s. Horseback riding instructor to the “12 year olds and Below” students in the Summer camp This parallels the “dog-walking” on p.53. People truly view their horses as an additional family member, and when showing, breed and bloodlines affect traits, temperament, and conformation, which in turn is the ultimate determining factor in pinning a ribbon or not. It is an art to “teach.” Especially when trying to teach someone how to become one with an animal. It requires a bond that almost can’t be taught. It’s a trust that the horse must build as well as the rider. I love this job
