Melanie Larson COMM 265 January 31, 2010 Informative Speech Kate Winslet, Anne Hathaway, Paris Hilton, Method Man, and Bob Barker. What do these people have in common? They all live a vegetarian lifestyle. You may ask yourself, self, “what exactly is a vegetarian anyway, and where did this crazy idea of only eating vegetables come from?” Well today I am here to talk to you about the history of vegetarianism and what is all about. First of all, prior to the industrial revolution, meat was very expensive and hard to store due to low availability of refrigeration at the time. Pretty much, people were forced to be a vegetarian unless they were rich. After the industrial revolution came into effect, meat became cheaper and easier to store and to transport, bringing along a prosperous economy, which is always welcome. But unfortunately it

Heart disease according to the American Heart Association is any disease or condition that puts your heart at risk. Fortunately, by 1990 the American Heart Association found ways to lower the risk of heart diseases by changing peoples diets to a mostly vegetarian meal program. Dr. John McDougall was the first to prove heart disease could be reversed by putting people on a vegetarian diet in 1990. Opposingly, vegetarian diets can also have its risks. If a vegetarian diet is not balanced properly nutrition deficiencies arise such as osteoporosis, anemia and vitamin B-12 deficiencies....
