Consider the decimal (i.e. base ten) number X = -105, i.e. [negative one hundred five] base ten. a) Express X in Sign Magnitude format. [10 pts] Ans.: 105 as an unsigned binary 8-bit number is 01101001. So, inverting the sign bit yields 11101001. b) Express X in One’s Complement format. [10 pts] Ans.: 105 as an unsigned binary 8-bit number is 01101001. So, bitwise inversion yields 10010110. c) Express X in Two’s Complement format. [10 pts] Ans.: 105 as an unsigned binary 8-bit number is 01101001. So, bitwise inversion yields 10010110 to which one is added to yield 10010111. 2.
