English 161: Taking Issue: Writing Analytically about Ethics and Politics                Ford Political/News Magazine Workshop: Recognizing a "Political Agenda" Instructions:  Get together in groups of 3 or 4 people. Keeping in mind what you have learned in  this course about the American Political Spectrum, examine the set of magazines your group has  received. Try to determine, first, which magazines could be classed as "Opinion" magazines and  which as "News" magazines; and second, which magazines openly support views of the Left or  views of the Right, and which others may be suspected of leaning one way or the other, but  under the guise of "objectivity." Features to Examine: Magazine Cover: Photographs, Cartoons, Headlines Staff Box/Masthead: List of Publisher, Editors, Writers/Contributors Table of Contents Letters to the Editor and Responses (if any)
