Step 3. Build the DAC Circuit PreLab Read the DAC0808 data sheet. Pay particular attention to Figure 1. Tasks Build and characterize a digital to analog converter Place the DAC circuit components on your board (consult data sheet and board schematic). Use the output of your ADC as input to the DAC. Drive the ADC with the same 10 Hz ramp voltage (0 to 5 V ramp, 10 Hz frequency) as used in Step 2. Observe analog input on one scope channel, and the analog output on another. Capture this scope output. Measure the width in time of one segment (&Mac198;t) of the DAC output. How does this time compare to the pin period? Figure 1. Discrete voltage levels at the output of a DAC Change the function generator output to a sinewave with 5 V pp , 2.5 V dc offset, and 10 Hz frequency to start.
