Use the Antoine’s equation along with the constants given in Appendix B, to calculate saturation pressures of the n-alkanes ( n -pentane, n -hexane, n -heptane, and n -octane), the n -alcohols (methanol, ethanol, n -propanol, and n -butanol) and water at 80 C. Plot the saturation pressure vs. the molar mass of the compound. Discuss any trends you see, and explain them on the basis of the chemical structures. 2. A mixture of 35 mol% ethanol and 65 mol% water is charged to a tank, which is at 1 atm pressure. Use Figure 5.13 (from our textbook) to determine: (a) the dew point temperature of the mixture, (b) the composition of the liquid droplet at the dew point temperature, (c) the bubble point temperature, (d) the composition of the vapour bubble at the bubble point temperature. 3.
