HAMLET PLAY 2 In Hamlet, Shakespeare examines the notion of vengeance and deception. Hamlet is the son of the recently killed King; therefore, is the heir of the thrones. However, his Father’s villainous brother, Claudius has taken away the crown from him and has entered into a traditional marriage with Hamlet’s Mother. In battle, his father’s ghost tells him that Claudius murdered him. Ostensibly, Hamlet intends to exact vengeance to his father’s murderer. He isolates himself from the family setting and his true love Ophelia. He puts a cloak of deception to hide his true intent despite the things he may lose along the way (Mowat and Werstine, 2011). His isolation and feigned insanity demonstrate how violent passion can make someone lose the meaning of life or things that matter in life.
