Sarah Benton Assignment VI 1. Feminists were disappointed with the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments to the Constitution due to the Amendments’ lack of inclusion of women. These amendments dealt with the freedom and rights of former slaves, but in no way helped women in either the North or South. Black males were given rights including voting, property ownership and travel, but women were still fighting to own land by themselves and vote. Women saw the 14 th and 15 th amendments as unfair because freed blacks were moving up so quickly, while women kept fighting and getting nowhere. 2. Horace Greeley was doomed to lose the election of 1872 for several reasons. One of these reasons was the attack campaign the Republican Party had set up against him. Greeley had previously been allied with the Republicans, but following Grant’s decision to run again, he decided to oppose him. Greeley faced a smear campaign, which described him as crazy, dumb and incapable of leading the country. One of the other
