2 Exams and assignments > Final grades are based on: Assignments Weights Date / Time Midterm exam 1 30% Feb 24, T / 6:30 – 7:45 pm Lukas Roth FIN 305W 4 Midterm exam 2 30% Apr 2, R / 6:30 – 7:45 pm Paper 5% Apr 28, T / due by 4:00 pm Final exam 35% Final exam week Exams 1 > In general Exams are “closed book,” calculator is allowed Multiple choice and written problems Problem based, no essay questions Exams cover material from lectures, handouts, homework, assignments, and the textbook Lukas Roth FIN 305W 5 > How to prepare for the exams? Replicate all problems discussed in class (those are in the slides) and all problems from the relevant chapters in the textbook Do the end-of-chapter problems in the textbook Do all extra practice problems Do the practice exams and attend the review sessions Exams 2 > Midterm exams In the evening, no lecture on that day Single-sided 8½ × 11 cheat-sheet is allowed > Final exam Lukas Roth FIN 305W 6 During final exam week Cumulative Double-sided 8½ × 11 cheat-sheet is allowed

3 Paper > This course has a writing component (the W in FIN 305W) > Your are required to write a paper of 3 to 5 pages > Topic of the paper: Lukas Roth FIN 305W 7 Topic of the paper: WACC calculation for a company of your choice > More details and exact guidelines will be given in class in the second half of the semester Homework > Homework problems: End-of-chapter problems (in the textbook) are assigned (see syllabus for details) Occasionally, I will post extra practice problems on ANGEL Lukas Roth FIN 305W 8 > All problems are optional but strongly recommended as they are essential for performance on the exams > Answers to those problems will be posted on ANGEL General remarks and rules > Late papers (after 4 pm) will not be accepted and will result in a grade of zero > No waivers granted; no work for extra credits possible Lukas Roth FIN 305W 9 > Absence from any exams will not be excused, except for the most serious reasons > If you need a conflict exam, talk to me at least two weeks prior to the exam
