This paper will review three different pieces and provide a critique’s of each. The first to
be analyzed is the study, “Lesbian experiences and needs during childbirth:
Guidance for health
care providers” by McManus, A.J., Hunter, L.P., & Renn, H. written in 2006. It is a review that
sought to examine various literature involving lesbians and childbirth. The second is a study
titled, “A longitudinal study of women’s memory of labor pain – from 2 months to 5 years after
the birth” written by Waldenstrom, U. & Schytt, E. in the year 2008. This study the memory of
labor pain at various junctures of a mother’s life after she had conceived. They also wanted to
understand how the pain affected the mothers’ perspective on childbirth. The third study is titled,
“A randomized controlled trial of continuous labor support for middle-class couples: Effect on
cesarean delivery rates” written by McGrath, S.K. & Kennell, J.H in the year 2008. The objective
of “this randomized controlled trial was to examine the prenatal effects of doula support for
nulliparous middle-income women accompanied by a male partner during labor and delivery.”
The first study, “Lesbian experiences and needs during childbirth:
