Lab 4—Introduction to Invertebrates This lab is less concerned with specific animal groups than it is with introducing basic animal structures and systems. The main point is to think about some basic biological concepts and apply those concepts to real animals. The themes talked about in this lab will be repeated in greater detail as the quarter progresses. At this point we do not expect you to know what these animals are, but beginning next week you will be required to know the different animal groups to Phylum and Class. For now, don’t worry about the specific names of the animals (but don’t forget about the vertebrates—you will be required to identify them on next week’s quiz). This lab has three sections. Section I is broken down further into two parts. Positions A, B, C, and D compare body plans and physiological systems.
