T e a m   C r e a t i o n s  | 2 Abstract A project is only as successful as its team is a safe methodology to use when constructing a group of people to make up a team. In an organization, the project manager needs to understand how to work with the various employees who would interface with the project. This paper will identify how project team members are selected, identify team building strategies, identify potential areas of conflict within a diverse project team, identify techniques for reducing the probability of dysfunctional conflict and lastly, identify conflict resolution techniques that will be used when conflict arises.

T e a m   C r e a t i o n s  | 3 Selecting Team Typically, a project is filled with multiple little tasks all to be completed by the team members. The project plan and goal will assist in determining which individuals would be best to serve on the team. Recognizing and being able to identify the strengths of each individual is a valuable quality possessed by an experience project manager and could be the defining line between a successful and suffering project team. If a project’s goal is to improve a process within an office environment, it would be advantageous to make the project team multidisciplinary. The project team should consist of an employee from each level of operation. Making the team multidisciplinary will give allow each perspective to the way operations are
