The USPTO mission is to promote the progress of science and the useful arts by securing for limited times to inventors the exclusive right to their respective discoveries. The USPTO protects the intellectual property of the individuals and enforces others to give royalty to the original inventor. The USPTO advises the President of the United States, the Secretary of Commerce, and U.S. Government agencies on intellectual property policy, protection, and enforcement. It also works with other agencies to protect ideas and innovations.
