Frasier Reflection Summary: The episode starts off in a café with Frasier meeting Mia. They soon become good friends. Frasier invites Mia to come on their family camping trip which is meant to be a celebration of Frasier’s father’s birthday. Frasier and his brother Niles plan to give their father some old family videos as a gift. When they arrive at the camp site, Niles is extremely paranoid about bugs and brings a lot of bug spray. Niles and Frasier’s father realize that Mia looks exactly like Frasier’s mother but are in denial so that it does not ruin their camping trip. After watching the home videos, Frasier realizes that Mia looks exactly like his mom so he decides to cut off the relationship. Present Freudian Concepts: Mia looks exactly like Frasier’s mom. In this case, Frasier is dating someone who looks like his mother. Frasiers father and Niles are denying that Mia looks like Frasiers Mom. This is an example of Denial. Denial is when a person is faced with a fact that is too unacceptable so they choose to completely ignore it/disagree. Frasier lets Mia drag him around. This is an example of Regression. Regression is when an individual retreats back to a more infantile psychosexual stage. In this case, Frasier is acting like he is a child again by getting told what to do....
