Define Terms Magnification- enlargemnt of image Illumination- light Contrast- Resolution- clarity of image limit of resolution -determines ability t distinguish two adjacent points as they separate 2. Know what these do and where they are on microscope condenser lens -under mechanical stage three different inserts (1 bright, 2 Phase ) objective lens -suspended from revolving nosepiece above stage, shorter lens, lower magnification ocular lens -eye pieces 3. What is Kohler Illumination? Why do we always set our microscope up for Kohler illumination? bring both specimen and image of field iris diagram into focus in same plane and centering illumination over specimen this sets up microscope for optimum lightning (good image quality) 4. Why must you always use immersion oil at 1000x magnification? when using 100X objective lense -light exiting glass condensor will be bent as it travels thru air (less dense)
