February 22, 2010 Genetics Essay Scientists can now determine the complete DNA sequences of organisms, including humans. Now that this milestone has been reached, is there a reason to continue learning about Mendel, alleles, and inheritance patterns? Explain your answer. A huge milestone was accomplished when we were able to complete DNA sequences on whole organisms. We were finally to figure out that A, G, T, and C’s that make up everything we know. The Human Genome Project, for example, set to identify all the approximately 20,000-25,000 genes in human DNA and determine the sequences of the 3 billion chemical base pairs that make up human DNA. It was revolutionary development for the scientific world. All this information could not have been able to be gotten without the help of the basics of genetics - Mendel, alleles, and inheritance patterns. Without these foundations,
