EE444 Term Project Guidelines (Spring 2009) Part I Due Date: April 20 th , 2009 Part II of the project will be announced very soon. Consider the network configuration given below: 1. There are 5 stations sharing an Ethernet local area network (LAN) (i.e., S1, S2, S3, S4, and S5) with a capacity of 10 Mb/s with 40 ms average (link layer) delay. 2. A router (R1) has two interfaces, i.e., one is a LAN interface that is connected to the LAN and the other one is a wide area network (WAN) interface connected to another router (R2) over a wide area backbone link. 3. The second router (R2) is connected to a web server (WS). 4. The links are bidirectional and the link delays are [WS-R2] =10 ms. The delay in the backbone link is 50 ms. 5. All queues in the network are operating based on FCFS. 6. Stations (S1 - S5) initiate a download of a movie file from the web server (WS) for the whole experiment duration.
