Notes to Prof. Dummkopf • For review, draw mouth on board with consonant symbols in their place of articulation—esp. frics! • Remind them also that there is a list of phonetic symbols with examples and their descriptions in the appendix of their text. Though different from ours in many respects, they should be helpful.

Notes to Prof. Dummkopf • From this, your lecture notes, my handouts and my slides, you should have no problem doing these worksheets. • I want you to think about these articulatory features and not just insert from a list. • Finally! Note that my list of consonant symbols in your Reader are phonemic and therefore a little screwy! (i.e. on p. 16 I don’t list the affricates and show [x] and [ç] as /x/.)
