Friday April 9 th , 2010 In the Great American Indian novel, when it is finally written, all of the white people wil be Indians and all of the Indians will be ghosts- How to write the Great American Indian Novel –Sherman Alexie - Criticizing how the, one dimensional, very tradiditonal, the problem with showing the photos, that theyese are victizmized people. Indians not able to tell their story. Before 1890 they were depicted as svages. Then they were depicted as tragic people. Vanishing Indian- they have to go away. Manifest Dead- myth of the vanishing Indian - We kill them, we fill bad, Culture aspect , Frank Baum, critizing – side of killing them all to justifity Daw’s Act – blood of Indian- race done by blood ( science of that time) - Help assure a legal way to banish them Poccihantas exception – can still be white - Eventually one day, all the white people will be Indians, and the Indians will be gone Intersectionality – race and xexuality
