Definitions: Metastasis- Spread of cancer from one body part to another. Cancer cells break away from primary tumor and travel through lymph/blood vessels to settle into normal tissue elsewhere in the body. Melanoma- Malignant tumor of the melanocytes. Melanocytes are the cells that produce the pigment melanin. Melanoma can occur in the skin as well as in other pigmented tissues
