TO:  Ohio Legal Rights Service FROM:  Averyanna Evans, Jordan Gales, Claire Eichman, and Kristine Pitt DATE:  February 22, 2010 RE:  A proposal for new social media strategy  PURPOSE Social media websites are tools that allow companies and organizations to share and  promote their content, goals, and programs with the public. The most widely used social  networking tools are Facebook and Twitter. Many companies also create external blogs,  websites designed for commentary and daily updates on programs that are readily  available to the public. For a nonprofit organization’s social media strategy to be  effective, it must utilize disclosure, usefulness, and interactivity.  Incorporating an external blog for the Ohio Legal Rights Services will provide the public  with greater access to information.  An external blog would provide an interactive  manner in which individuals can learn about the group and bring awareness to the  issues they combat.   THE PROBLEM  The Ohio Legal Rights Service has created a Facebook page as a social media outlet.  However, there are several flaws in their usage of this social networking site.  Overall the
