Mark Einsiedel USSY 204 – Systems Thinking January 31, 2010 The Butterfly Effect This past weekend I was watching television and I was watching a particular movie that I have seen a few times, The Butterfly Effect . Although I have seen the movie before, I paid particular attention to the concept of the butterfly effect due largely in part to my systems thinking class I am taking this semester. I was extremely interested because I got to thinking about how choices and conditions that seem so insignificant on the surface can produce such a large impact down the road. The idea that each and every choice I make has an impact on my life in one way or another never really sunk in with me. I always thought that what I chose to wear or what I chose to eat on any given day carried little to no significance. However, after doing some research I truly recognized that the choices we make cause our life to travel down a specific path, and that we will never be given the opportunity to take back any moment in our pasts.
