Homework 1 Due: Wednesday, January 20 You can turn in a hard copy in class, leave a hard copy in the envelope outside your TA’s office or in 206 Sproul Hall (=my office; just slip under the door if I’m not there), or upload a file to SmartSite, via Assignments. However, if you choose to upload the assignment via SmartSite, it MUST be in .pdf format . There are various ways of getting a file into .pdf format. For example, a file that you have in virtually any ohter format can be converted for free via such websites as http://www.freepdfconvert.com/ . You can also write out the answers and scan the results to PDF (in various ways). If you want to use phonetic characters in Word or another word processor, you can install a free phonetic font on your computer, such as Doulos SIL ( ). The resulting file will still need to be saved or converted to PDF somehow. Part One
