EXPERIMENT 6: Exploring Gas Laws                                                                                 N e g r o n  | 2 Discussion Introduction / Objective The objective of this experiment was to provide the researcher with an overview of the fundamentals of gas laws. This experiment provided an experimental demonstration of Boyle’s and Amonton’s laws by plotting the correlation of pressure and volume and pressure versus temperature. This experiment also had insight on how to calculate the gas constant, R, through experiment and calculations. The last main objective of this experiment was to use Dalton’s law to account for the partial pressures of individual gasses in mixture. 1 Summary In this experiment, the main objectives were fulfilled by testing the fundamentals of gas laws by exploring some of the gas laws and seeing their relationships through calculations. The first part of the experiment involved calculating the R constant through pressure changes. Using PV=nRT, pressure, volume, moles, and temperature were all calculated or given.
