Review Topics When reviewing I recommend the following strategy: 1. Read through the class notes and rework any examples. Do not forget to review PRS quizzes. 2. Read through the recitation packets that I have posted online. Read through the examples carefully. (Answer keys have been posted) 3. Read the textbook pages that I have posted online. Pay attention to all examples and to the essential reading. 4. Review the webassign homework problems. This list may be more comprehensive than needed or not complete but it represents what I think is most important for reviewing after going through the four sets of notes for Chapters 3 – 6. In addition, you should know nomenclature, atomic numbers, mass numbers, and the basic atomic symbols presented in chapter 2. 1. Conversion grams to moles. Chapter 3 2. Conversion from volume to mass using density. 3. Calculation of empirical and molecular formulas. 4. Calculation of percent composition. 5. Mole to mole ratios and stoichiometry. 6. Calculation of limiting reagents 7. Calculation of percent yields 1. Know the solubility rules. Keep in mind that any salt with an alkali metal, ammonium, or nitrate will ALWAYS be soluble.
