Homework assignment # 1 CIS 635 Sushant Arora CSU ID # 2505446 To identify all the decisions that fail to satisfy WinWin achievement theorem conditions. With reference to case study there seems to be number of decisions that when taken failed  to satisfy the WinWin achievement theorem conditions such as:- In order for a project to be a success first thing is to determine all success critical  stake holders and for Universal Micros Inc. to accept the offer of Softwizards Inc. was  not a right decision as it was more of a capital game rather than involving success  “critical” stakeholders.Softwizards  was  looking  for better future options  and they  wanted a chance which was offered from Universal Micros Inc.,so they reduced the  cost to $300K and still agreed to deliver Uniword software and that too in nine  months with more capabilities as expected from Universal micros. Universal Micros again on the other hand was swayed by less money offered by  Softwizards and they instead of interrogating wether Softwizard could actually lead  them to winwin situation by delivering the exact replica of what they have envisioned  in limited amount of time, settled with them though they had another option to decide  upon. Once Softwizards got the project they elected those 2 members i.e. Bill Brown and  Karen   gray   as   project   manager   and   deputy   poject   manager   who   were   not  experienced enough to work on word processing system or LINUX environment  which again was not a praiseworthy decision. Also there were more of ego clashes  between them as they both went on their own tracks developing chuncks the way  they want them and when it was time to compromise as Bill Brown found that pieces  they   made   were   not   compatible   with   each   other   ,Karen   Gray   left   the  project.Actually, they were not concerned with specifications given by customer which  was the basis for the request for proposal. When it was tried to modify the work of Karen Gray it had some side effects so it was  left and to build an outer layer that will interact the users and UniWord components  The UniWord Project Page 1

was decided. Now this again was not something   talked before and developers  overlooked what users and customers want because they were rather interested in  coming   out   of   whirlpool   they   were   trapped   in.So   the   decision   they   made   was  definately not in favour win-win situation because it might help one to come out of  trouble they are in but on the other hand its customers and users who will suffer for it. First ,Bill Brown was very optimistic regarding the project and he reported that its on
