Essay: Tinker v. Des MoinesKristina Bodnar12/20/18The Tinker v. Des Moines was a story among high school students that decided to wear black armbands to protest against the fighting of the Vietnam War but the principal of the school found out and said that if they wear these armbands they would be suspended. Despite of the warning that they got, the students still decided to wear them and were suspended. As for the decision of the protest, in 1969 the United States Supreme Court ruled in 7-2 decision in favor of the students. They came to a conclusion that the students’ free of speech should be protected. On December 16th, Mary Beth and Christopher wore their armbands to school. Eventually John Tinker wore his the next day. They were all sent home and suspended from school until the day after the planned period for wearing these armbands was expired.As students were protesting, only 18,000 students wore armbands and only five were
