COMM 1 Notes- 10/13/2008 Managing Difficulty Emotions EMOTIONAL MEMORY: •Facilitative Emotions-  -emotions making something easier -Anger can be facilitative also- drive someone to do something •Debilitative Emotions- - emotions hinder communication and behavior - Intensity- rage , not being able to control that emotion - Fear- starts to hinder who they are and their ability to function - Duration- how long something lasts- and what is a normal time for it to last. Where it stores emotions- Psyiological Response to Memory: -Fight or Flight Mechanism- protection device creates emotions depending on the situation. -Body is designed to deal with these psyiological changes. -Stores memories in the brain- for ex. Memory of traumatizing event that sends them into fight or flight because of a certain stimus trigger or they may be in an environment that triggers an emotional memory Self Messages/Self-Talk: - what are the messages that you are giving to your self. -
