BA 340 Principles of Marketing Heather Bosner Bishop January 29, 2009 Case Study Chapter 1 (Case 18 Harrisburg Volunteer Fire Department) Case overview :  Jesse Delaney, a volunteer firefighter, is working on a marketing plan  for the Harrisburg Volunteer Fire Department (HVFD) for the first time. The Department  currently all volunteer and has 48 members. They have been able to get new recruits in  the past but few have stayed on long term although those who do stay until they are  unable to meet the job requirements. The HVFD is comprised mostly of men and people  over age 40 but is representative of many career fields. The majority of members joined  in their 20’s to 30’s. There is a large time commitment involved not limited to responding  to actual emergencies but also training, drills, and participation in various fund raisers  depending on the department’s financial needs. There are specific requirements
