Abstract: This experiment is about a ballistic pendulum. In this experiment, we will measure the initial velocity of a projectile by means of a ballistic pendulum. The projectile which is here a ball that has mass m. the ball will be fired form a spring gun with an initial velocity v1. When the ball is being fired, it will swing upward with velocity v. by the force of the gravity, the ball will eventually be stopped. The main purpose of this experiment is measure the initial velocity of the ball. By taking into account object’s mass, the time in which it is in motion and the height on this pendulum system. Certain equation can be used to determine this velocity.
