Prevention Page 2 The issue I had chosen was the medical issues affecting the people of Haiti following the devestating earthquake that killed thousands of people. Many issues that the people of Haiti had to deal with, they had to deal with the loss of their homes, death that had taken so many of their people. The lack of food and clean water, dealing the wounded and misplaced children, also dealing with lack of clothing and daily living supplies that many people take for granted. They had to deal with the lack of help and supplies not readily available to help them to back on their feet. The biggest thing that is hurting this area, is the lack of medical supplies, medical facilities and personnell. Many of the people are suffering from diarrheal illnesses, acute respiratory in- fections and malnutrition, this is a result of their poor living conditions, they are living in tents and crammed together. They have very little vaccination for the children and it is hard to pro- tect from the diseases that could kill them. Many burn victims cannot be cared for properly and many later die because of the lack of medical provided. The prevention strategy that I have chosen is the tertiary prevention, I picked this one be-
