Nick Fortune Comp. 1 November 16, 2005 A Conversation with Tim Manyatis I would like to take some time to let you get to know my good friend Tim Manyatis the way I do. Going through high school with Tim, I have gotten to know him fairly well over the past few years and know that he is a unique individual. Ranging from his musical influences, to his original personality, he is his own person. Sitting with his shaggy blonde hair hanging out of the sides of his brown Dickies hat, he leans back in his chair and begins to play a riff on his Epiphone guitar. Tim is the typical high school soccer player. “I was the average high school soccer player; the only difference is I won a state championship.” The lack of a men’s soccer team here at Western is a disappointment to him. Often he talks about how he would have tried out if there were a team here. The main reason he decided to come to Western Carolina University mainly because it was the only college he got into. While there are things he misses about home, at the same time there are many things about Western which he enjoys. He likes being in the mountains with all the nature and pretty scenery because it is a calming, surreal surrounding.
