Nick Fortune 3117 Avondale Court Raleigh, NC 27613 January 11, 2006 Mr. Murat Yazan 312 Coulter Hall WCU English Department Cullowhee, NC 28723 Dear Mr. Yazan: I was writing to introduce myself to you as a new student in English 102 in the Spring 2006 semester. I am a freshman from Raleigh, NC and I attended a very large high school with a graduating class of over 500. I lived in Raleigh my whole life with my mom and dad, and also my two older sisters Carly and Lindsay. All my life I have been interested in sports ranging from football to golf. Being an N.C. State fan I have been able to see moderate success recently in the two big time sports in football and basketball. I am also very interested in music of all types. My favorite bands are Dave Matthews, Jack Johnson, O.A.R., Umphreys McGee and other bands of that type. I got a chance to see all of them in one place last summer when I went to the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee. I also love to go to my beach condo in Atlantic

As for my goals in my personal, academic and career lives, I hope to be very successful in whatever I do. Over the next three or four years of school I hope to continue to have impressive grades and make the Dean’s List. Majoring in construction management I hope to work for a big time commercial construction company or start my own residential or commercial construction company. This has always been an interest of mine and I felt it would be a good field to go into because there are always homes and shopping centers being built so I will always have work to do.
