Lab2, winter08, page 1 of 18 CARLETON UNIVERSITY Department of Systems and Computer Engineering SYSC 4405/ Winter 2010 Lab #2: Simulink/TMS320C6713 DSK Tutorial for Filter Design 1 Pre-lab: You should familiarize yourself with this lab manual before your lab session. It would be instruc- tive to read through the manual and study the Simulink models beforehand. 1 Introduction This tutorial will give you an introduction to the features of the Texas Instruments TMS320C6713 DSP Starter Kit (DSK). In this tutorial you will learn some of the basic components of the c6713 DSK and how to use it from Simulink. You will also learn a bit of how to use the c6713 DSK setup in the lab, along with Simulink, to implement and test some simple filter designs on the c6713 DSK. 2 TMS320C6713 DSK Platform The TI TMS320C6713 DSK has the following block diagram as shown in Fig. 1 [1]. Figure 1: c6713 DSK block diagram (taken from pg. 1-2 in [1]). A few key features of the TI TMS320C6713 DSK (from now on referred to as the c6713 DSK) are as follows (taken from pg. 1-2 in [1]): 1. Verify that the connections are made such as shown in Fig. 2. These connections include: Figure 2: c6713 DSK connection setup in the lab. (a)Connect the computer’s line in to the line out on the back of the c6713 DSK enclosure. (b) Connect the computer’s line out to the line in on the back of the c6713 DSK enclosure. (c) Connect the green speaker jack to the speaker output on the back of c6713 DSK enclosure. (d) Connect the pink microphone jack to the mic in input on the back of c6713 DSK enclo-
