Luke Wyatt 12/10/07 Risk Assessment The experiment had some very low risks. These are outlined below 1. Electrical – As circuits are being built with a present voltage and current. 2. Thermal – As the metal rods are being heated up. Experiment Aim The aim of this experiment is to understand the concepts of electrical and thermal conductivity, understand the techniques for the measurement of very low voltages, and to measure the electrical and thermal conductivity of different metal samples. Below is a list of all the apparatus used in this experiment Op Amp Farnell Power supply 5 metals rods ( High purity copper, brass, aluminium, mild steel, stainless steel) ±12v power supply Thermistors Digital multimeter Wires Below is a circuit diagram of how the apparatus was set up to collect the results 1 of 3
