The main purpose of this experiment is to write and balance equations correctly. Calculations involving limiting reactants, theoretical yield, actual yield and percent yield must be performed effectively. Materials/Equipment Heat resistant gloves Various Pipets and Pipet Bulb 50 mL Ehrlenmeyer flasks (3) Glass Stirring Rod Hot Plate Analytical Balance Bushner funnel and filter paper Vacuum filtration apparatus Ring stand and clamp Oven .20 M Barium Chloride () .60 M Sulfuric Acid () 1 M Hydrochloric Acid (HCl) Procedure To initiate the experiment, 30 mL of .20 M barium chloride was transferred, using a pipet, into a 50 mL flask. The flask was then placed on a hot plate until the solution was near boiling.
