After thorough analyses we can see that there is support for some of our hypotheses. The frequency for race indicated a higher number of White/Caucasian individuals undergo craniotomies. For number of deaths, our data indicated that those with DRG code 02 had a lesser chance of dying. Another finding indicated that there were more female participants with the DRG code 02 versus the random sample. These findings clearly indicate that there is support for our hypothesis that there is a difference between DRG and non-DRG patients defined by patient’s demographics, ICD9 diagnoses and procedure codes. By analyzing the length of stay we can see that those who were in the hospital for DRG code 02 (craniotomy) stayed longer than those of the random sample. This provides support for our second hypothesis which states that there is a difference in length of stay between DRG and non DRG patients.
