IESA offers a short program on energy business Caracas, May 9, 2007.- Graduate students from business schools worldwide may now broaden their knowledge on the most important topics related to oil, gas, electricity and other energy sources, this summer, with the short program “Strategic challenges of the energy business in Latin America: economics, regulation, and management”, offered by IESA. The program (to be held in Caracas, from August 13 to 22, 2007) offers a global vision of the industry, as well as an overview on the latest trends and latest major projects in Latin America. Attendees will also obtain analytic tools to understand the strategic challenges inherent to the new international energy scenario. Students will also visit the facilities of CVG Edelca, Venezuela’s main hydroelectric company, located in southern Bolivar state; it includes a tour to Guri and Macagua power plants. With a total generating capacity of 10,000 MW of emission-free electricity, Guri is second in size in the world, only surpassed by Itaipu (12,600 MW of power), located in the Brazil-Paraguay border.
