CS 556: HOMEWORK 3 due Feb 24, 2010 This homework is about spatiotemporal segmentation. A set of video frames when stacked together can be viewed as forming a space-time (2D+t) volume. As segmentation partitions an image into regions, spatiotemporal segmentation partitions a 2D+t volume into subvolumes, also referred to as 2D+t tubes. The tubes are spatially contiguous and temporally cohesive clusters of pixels from few consecutive frames, as illustrated in Fig. 1. There are multiple ways to conduct spatiotemporal segmentation.
