Management Structures Checkpoint The advantages of departmentalization structure are the following: practice makes perfect, creates highly skilled specialists, it lower costs through reduce duplication, communication and coordination problems are lessened, specialization and smoother internal coordination, efficiencies from putting together similar specialties and people with common skills, knowledge, and orientations. On the other hand, some disadvantages of departmentalization structure are the following: limit view of organizational goals, and the demand for a particular good or service diminish, those within a specified department must be retrained to perform another function. Departmentalization structure affects day to day operations by who does what, when and how. However matrix organization structure has some advantages too such as , an equal amount of work is produced by each employee because they are all properly trained and within the same skill-set, matrix organization are ideal for project based organization, resource sharing, cost
