RUTGERS UNIVERSITY MONEY & BANKING Economics 220:301:01 Spring 08 TF from 11:30 – 12:50 PM FH –A6 on College Avenue Campus Instructor: Marwa Hassan [email protected] Office: Room 402, NJ Hall Hours: Tuesdays, from 1:00-2:00PM Wednesdays: 10:00-11:00 PM Course description and outline: The main objective of this course is to study the nature of money, the monetary system, and monetary standards, and present state of the American monetary system; credit, banking, and Federal Reserve; instruments of credit control; FED and treasury policies; monetary reform, monetary theory and policy. Prerequisites: 01:220:102 and 01:220:103 OR 220:200 Textbook: The textbook for this course is Money, Banking, & Financial Markets , by Stephen Cecchetti, 2006, McGraw-Hill Irwin Publisher. Attendance: Attending classes will help you keep up with the materials covered in lectures. Students are responsible for all material presented and/or assigned in class as well as any announcements made in class.
