Benoit Fichepain Writing the environment Rhetorical Critique Prof: Ramsey is a website which included a free quiz for anyone. The ecological Footprint quiz estimates the amount of land and ocean area required to sustain your consumption patterns and absorb your wastes on an annual basis. The quiz is the collaboration between two organizations: “Redefining Progress” and “Center for sustainable economy”. Both, organizations work in the environmental fields such as wildfire, pollution, deforestation, desertification, sprawl, landfill, global warming, soil erosion and species extinction. The goal of this website is to persuade people to reduce their footprint to preserve our environment; but because of a lack of information the quiz seems to be not effective. The way to attain this goal is going to be analyzed by using ethos, pathos and logos, three main forms of rhetoric descriptions. Redefining Progress is the nation’s leading public policy think tank dedicated to smart economics. They find solutions that ensure a sustainable and equitable world for future generations. While conventional models for economic growth discount such assets as clean air, safe streets, and cohesive communities, Redefining Progress integrates these assets into a more sustainable economic model. Working with government and advocacy groups, Redefining Progress develops innovative policies that balance economic well-being, environmental preservation, and social justice. Their policy initiatives address pressing environmental issues such as global climate change and natural resource depletion, while ensuring that both the burdens and the benefits of these policies are shared equally among
