January 13, 2010 What are the roles of clubs in education? What you learn in the sports club, you can take and use it in the real world. The sports train your mind. How are the relationships between schools, families, and students portrayed? (according to the coaches/teachers, parents, students) The schools privilege the athletes by giving them easier classes so that they can focus on sports. The school considers sports as a type of education and doing well demonstrates discipline. The parents need to be involved if you want to immerse a student into winning a game. The parent school relationship are relatively tight, they are very involved in school sports/activities. How do gender relations manifest themselves on and around the baseball field? There were no girls on the baseball team. The leaders of the cheerleaders were male as well. The males are very serious about cheerleading. The girls are making tea, serving the boys; very conservative gender configuration going on. No hierarchy between cheerleaders/players
