Psychologists define morality as attitudes and beliefs that people hold that help them decide what is right and wrong. 3. Whose work and ideas was Kohlberg especially influenced by? Kohlberg’s ideas and works were influenced by Jean Piaget. 4. Describe the nature of “stages” according to Kohlberg (three basic characteristics). Kohlberg gives three characteristics of the nature of these stages: each stage is a uniquely, different kind of moral thinking and not just increases understanding of an adult concept of morality; the stages always happen in the same sequence of steps, in which no stage is ever skipped and there is never a reverse progression; and the stages are prepotent, which means that comprehension of stages below the currents stage occurs,
