Andre Mallqui 7 th  Period Chapter 8 Article 1:  It’s Not Just About Salivating Dogs! SEPARATE PIECE OF PAPER  1.  What researcher’s work is detailed in the article? The researcher whose work is detailed in this article is Ivan Petrovich Pavlov of Russia. 2.  Describe Pavlov’s physiological research design for studying the salivation of dogs.   Pavlov’s physiological research design for studying the salivation of dogs was produced by minor surgery  being performed upon the dog’s mouth so that the salivary duct was redirected through an incision in the  dog’s cheek and connected to a tube that would collect the saliva.  He or his assistants would introduce  various food or nonfood substance into a dog’s mouth and observe the rate and amount of salivation. 3.  What unexpected results did Pavlov begin to notice in his experiments? He made many new discoveries such as finding that when a dog received moist food, only a small amount  of saliva would be produced, compared with a heavy flow when dry food was presented.  The dogs  eventually began to salivate before any food reached their mouths and even before the odor of food was
