Rich Generazio November 29, 2009 Marketing 201-C Marketing Evolution Marketing is the “managerial discipline and area that devotes itself to understanding consumer needs, guiding the building of products and services to fulfill them, managing channels, and communicating and enticing consumers to buy.” Marketers are no longer concerned with the whole dilemma but rather just the aspect of communicating to the consumers through commercials. People today do not enjoy watching commercials and usually change the channel when the commercials come on or fast forward though these to get back to the programs. Marketers will now have to find different ways to reach their customers such as advertising online. One idea is to make it mandatory to watch x number of commercials while watching a show or movie online. One positive feature of having numerous channels and specialty channels, it allow companies to advertise to select, niche markets where as before they were advertising to everybody as a whole, even the people who are not in their target market. To me, right now marketers are consumed with making commercials as funny as
