Conor CEP-121 September 24, 2008 I read the article “Engaging Men as Social Justice Allies in Ending Violence Against Women: Evidence for a Social Norms Approach” from the Journal Of American Health, Vol. 52 No. 3. It explained that men are essential in ending men’s violence against women, obviously. But, it also told that many men have misperceptions about how other men view American stereotypes about masculinity. They also conducted many studies about how people perceive social norms. This article was a big eye opener The article opened with a statement about many efforts on college campuses around the nation to end violence against women. It more specifically stated that programs are beginning to shift their attention to include practices that address the role of men and how men influence each other’s behavior. Then it talked about how interventions targeting men have mostly consisted of workshops that tried to develop skills to help reduce sexual assault. In addition, it talked about more broad interventions, like
